Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz expecting a baby girl

July 17, 2008 (Sawf News) - Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are expecting a baby girl tentatively due on October 31, and daddy-to-be is so delighted he has taken on a new hobby - sewing clothes!

"Ashlee and Pete are on cloud nine," an insider told Star for its latest issue.

"The doctor told them they actually conceived the baby just before Valentine's Day while they were on vacation and has given them an initial due date of Oct. 31. When Pete heard he might have his baby on Halloween, he went nuts. For an emo-rocker type like Pete, that would be just too perfect!"

Pete officially announced Ashlee's pregnancy through a post on his website towards the end of May.

The post, signed, Pete and Ashlee Wentz, also explained why the couple took so long to confirm the widely known pregnancy.

"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family," the couple wrote.

The couple married on Saturday, May 17, at the Simpson's family home in Encino, California in an intimate wedding ceremony, attended by family and friends only.

Pete Wentz: Pregnant Ashlee Simpson Craves "Green Olives, Pickles"

What's mom-to-be Ashlee Simpson craving these days?

"Green olives and pickles!" her husband Pete Wentz revealed on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show Thursday. "Green olives on everything!"

He called her cravings an "anytime kind-of-thing. You always have to be ready."

He said the pregnancy is "really, really exciting.

"I heard women become mothers when they become pregnant, and boys become fathers when the baby is born," Wentz, 29, said. "So I don't feel all the physical things, but when I'm in the doctor's office, I freak out. It's ... crazy because it's this thing you made."

He said they still don't know the baby's sex, but is "hoping the doctor will see something in the next couple weeks."

The Fall Out Boy bassist — who confirmed Simpson's pregnancy in May shortly after they wed — says prepping for parenthood is "like making a record, but knowing you're going to mix it for the next 18 years of your life."

Expecting a kid has also affected "the way I'm writing. It's affected my perspective on the world. I care less about stupid things, petty feuds," Wentz said.

He also joked that he is turning into his dad.

"I get up at 7 ... complain," he said. "I come home [to] a pregnant wife and two puppies."

But Wentz (who admitted he made out with guys) doesn't mind.

He said his new goal is to "live in the suburbs and hang out with my kid."
